Talk about taking your favorite show on the go! iLuv has launched the iLuv i182, a recent upgrade to the old i180 model. New i182 owners will immediately notice a few key new features like the ability to record from any composite/S-video source (I’ve got one of those on my laptop too yay!). Also — with an attached adapter included with purchase – users can record video directly to flash memory cards (MS, MSDuo, MMC, or SD). I guess the immediate question or concern for content providers is that this makes it a bit “too easy”, especially for non-techie types, to record their movies, shows, videos, etc and make them portable.
Those awaiting the iLuv i182 model may be a bit dissapointed that it still lacks the ability to pre-program start times DVR style so you still have to be there to hit record. Which sucks because heck let’s face it, even our old VHS recorders can do that! However comma… users can still record manually or in 30, 60, 120, or 180 increments. So did the lightbulb go on in your head too like it did in mine? If you were thinking manual recording = no commercials you should contact me right away because we could be siamese twins separated at birth!
Now you could probably find a digital recorder that accepts composite/S-video inputs out there for less than $229.95. But the questions is, could you dock your iPod to it and record direct to your flash card? With flash cards now being capable of holding gigs of data, your flash capable PVP could become your new favorite device. PSP anyone?
