pepermint.jpgWell when I first saw this over on ministry of tech my first thought was, “you’re kidding right?”. Apparently the idea behind it is not necessarily to “deter” a thief from snatching your iPod out of the car, but to disguise it so that they don’t know it’s an iPod. So instead they’re supposed to think it’s a freakishly large box of mints?

ipod security?

iDisguise has it seems found a niche and gone after it full throttle. In fact they plan to expand their collection to other iPod models. But other than a novelty or gag gift I wonder if anyone will really buy into it. At $9.95 it could make an OK novelty or conversation starter gift but beyond that I don’t really see what you could use it for.

These guys seem serious though! I noticed in their title tag on their page — the text showing at the very top of your browser — they are using terms like iPod security and iPod anti-theft. They also are keen to point out that it’s made of “high quality tin” (I LOLed when I read that), “high density foam”, and it’s got a finger notch! Never fear though iDisguise. You had me at security.

A box of mints eh? I think the probability of your ipod getting stolen in one of these must be lower but.. you can easily misplace and lose this box of mints!
