Great looking portable media player design meets average PMP feature set. That about sums up what you get from the recently announced Lanhui LH-400. Don’t get too attached though - it’s yet another player found in China which probably won’t ever see the light of day here.

The LH-400, as you can see from the picture, sports a smart looking steel shell, which its manufacturer says is a striking design based upon the metal silver. Full Story »

The word on the PMP Street today surrounds buzz over two new, nice-looking Sony portable media players entering Sony’s Network Walkman family. They’re only being introduced in China at the moment though, so don’t hold your breath on buying one unless an importer decides to pick them up.

The two new models Sony is rolling out are the 2.4-inch TFT display PMX-U50 and the 4.3-inch screen PMX-M70. Full Story »

LG Electronics is slowly rolling out globally a new touchscreen portable media player with the nickname of Touch Me (yes - bad marketing, we know). The FM37, previously available in Korea, is now appearing in Europe. Will an American launch soon follow?

The LG FM37’s most notable feature is its lack of any buttons on the front side of the player. It sports instead a nice touchscreen interface on its 2.4-inch QVGA TFT color LCD. Full Story »

iriver showcased an interesting portable media player at the Consumer Electronics Show known as the W10. I’ve reproduced here in part a story I wrote on this player earlier in the year on what features it looks like it will have, but it’s interesting to note an announcement made yesterday about the W10. iriver is apparently partnering with Nanoradio AB, a Swedish semiconductor supplier, to supply the W10 with with a low power Wi-Fi chipset which offers 802.11b/g wireless functionality.

iriver said in this announcement the W10 will “be launched to consumers in the US during the third quarter of this year and then to operators in Europe and Korea.” Full Story »
