For those who have been living under a rock for the last month or so Apple is getting ready to launch the highly anticipated iPhone in June which is a combination of a cell phone and an iPod with a great deal of new technology including touch-screen controls.
Apple began what should end up being one hell of an advertising campaign on Sunday night for the iPhone. The commercial was 30-seconds long and was shown during the Academy Awards. The Oscars air on ABC.
The ad was very simple and was geared towards the awards show. It featured many clips from television shows as well as movies of characters answering the phone. It would show them all pick up the phone and say “Hello” and some of the clips included such people as Dustin Hoffman, Will Ferrell, etc. The clips were over 25 in total at least.
Once the clip of characters who all answered the phone came to a close a spinning iPhone was then displayed. It then faded away to an all black screen where the words, “Coming in June” appeared.
Once interesting thing to note was that the name iPhone was not mentioned in any way shape or form.
The ad aired during the very first commercial break for the awards show.
