The word on the PMP Street today surrounds buzz over two new, nice-looking Sony portable media players entering Sony’s Network Walkman family. They’re only being introduced in China at the moment though, so don’t hold your breath on buying one unless an importer decides to pick them up.
The two new models Sony is rolling out are the 2.4-inch TFT display PMX-U50 and the 4.3-inch screen PMX-M70. The PMX-U50 will support MPEG-4 videos as well as AVC (H.264/AVC). This is joined by MP3, WMA and AAC audio playback with no need for conversion software before loading music onto the player. You also get other bells and whistles like audio mode selections, JPEG display and drag and drop file loading.
The bigger PMX-M70, meanwhile, will give you upto 8GB of flash memory for file storage as well as Memory Card expansion. It supports MPEG-4 as well as AVC (H.264/AVC) like the PMX-U50 and has a built-in kickstand for hands-free viewing. Stereo speakers let you share audio with your friends and there’s also direct video and audio encoding and a voice recorder.
One other thing about the PMX-M70 - it looks just damm sexy!
