Cowon put out word today about a new widescreen portable media player we can only hope will someday hit American shores. The L2, with its nice seven-inch display, is now available in South Korea (you lucky dogs).
What is perhaps most interesting about the L2 is it has built-in GPS technology. With it you can navigate around your favorite urban environment as you enjoy a video on-screen. Speaking of on-screen, Cowon’s latest portable media player offers a rather unique picture-in-picture function so you can actually split the display between what you are watching and your GPS navigation. How cool is that?
Beyond GPS and PIP technologies you get a ton of other stuff in this sharp looking PMP. Features include WAV/ASF/WMA/MP3 audio file support, AVI/MPEG-4 video playback, BMP/PNG/JPG picture file display, 2GB of built-in memory (expandable via a SD memory card slot), FM radio, built-in speakers, a DMB tuner for digital television viewing (where supported), USB 2.0 and a non-glare screen.
