Well not quite considering the shock of the impact alone even with a solid casing would shatter your iPod Nano anyway but the idea of a bullet proof case is still cool. Belch Co., a small manufacturing company started in 2002 by 2 Purdue students, has introduced cool new carbon fiber cases for the iPod Nano. Now the “Belch” in Belch Co. wasn’t derived from some juvenile whim deciding to name their company after someone belched during the brainstorming session (although we think that would have been cool too). No friends, the founder of the company’s last name just happens to be Belcher. His co-workers gave him the name Belch Co. “because of all
the little gadgets he created“.
The cases themselves are made of high modulus carbon fiber and kevlar fabric. Yes that’s right, kevlar. The same material used by the US military in items used to stop bullets! There’s actually a few more ingredients that go into this mixture and you can check those out here. The cases also come with a cool clip on the back that’ll easily slide over the lip of your pants or belt.
Here’s a few more pictures:
The cases will run you about $41 with shipping. But a small price to pay to be able to tell people your iPod case is made of bullet proof material! Talk about scratch resistant.
