Cowon America, a division of Cowon Systems out of South Korea, has unveiled their latest portable media player on American shores. The Cowon D2, for sale in 2GB ($190) and 4GB ($220) flash memory options, is available now.
The Cowon D2 offers up a colorful 2.5-inch LCD screen with a touch-sensitive interface and is available in either black or white body colors. Besides the two base memory configurations the D2 can be expanded even further through a built-in memory card slot which supports SD and MMC cards. This memory card slot also allows one to transfer files onto the D2 from other gadgets such as digital cameras. As far as supported media file formats go, Cowon’s latest player supports a nice array of choices including JPEG, WMV9, MPEG4, MP3, WMA, FLAC, OGG and APE.
Other features of the Cowon D2 include a kickstand for hands-free viewing, a built-in rechargeable battery that provides up to 52 hours of audio or 10 hours of video playback in a single charge via USB or a standard wall charger, 74mW stereo output, sound enhancement options such as BBE and a five-band equalizer, 30 fps QVGA movie playback, TV out for display on a larger screen, integrated FM radio, radio/voice/line-in recording and support for Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems.
