The DXG-589V, announced a few days ago, wears a lot of hats. It’s a five-megapixel digital camera, VGA camcorder, video game player, digital music player and can also let you record video directly from a source such as a TV or DVD player. This last feature is what will matter to portable media players the most - video content recorded from a video source is stored on SD cards and can be enjoyed on the camcorder’s three-inch flip screen while on the road.
In addition to portable video enjoyment, the DXG-589V lets you entertain yourself with 20 built-in, full color video games as well as built-in gaming buttons. As far as video and digital image capture functions go, this gadget is capable of recording full-motion MPEG-4 video at 640 x 480 at 30 frames per second and digital still JPEG images up to 10 Megapixels (with interpolation).
The DXG-589V, which also has a built-in voice recorder, is priced at around $200 and comes with a variety of accessories.
