Life Fitness has announced that they plan to build iPod integration into their upcoming products. Life Fitness, a division of Brunswick Corp., produces exercise equipment for gyms, businesses, and personal use. The company has announced that it plans to make the first iPod compatible products available as soon as late March.

The new fitness machines, equipped with liquid-crystal display touchscreens, will allow users to plug in iPods and headphones and peruse their song libraries or watch their videos on the console as they would on the portable player itself. This will recharge the gadget’s battery at the same time.

It looks like the WiiMote which has recently arisen as the exercise tool of choice for gamers and geeks everywhere may have had it’s 15 minutes of fame. Wiizercise may become yesterday’s fad to ipod owners. No word on whether the new exercise equipment will support all iPod models but I imagine since it is a plug in type integration and not a dock most Apple devices should be OK? But my question to you Life Fitness is what about everyone else? Ever heard of Zune? Creative? iRiver?
