iriver America looks to have begun sales on their Web site of the next generation of their clix portable media player. A 4GB version in black is the first model on the block and it’s priced at around $200.
The second generation clix PMP takes quite a different form factor from the first go around of iriver’s clix line up. Gone are the white sidings, replaced instead by a more sleek looking metallic touch. The player sports an ultra-bright 2.2-inch color screen and offers up to 24 hours of rechargeable battery life depending upon the function being used.
Speaking of function, the new iriver clix can play music, videos and display photos. It supports select subscription music services and has a built-in FM tuner as well as digital voice recorder. It can be operated in both MTP and UMS operating modes and allows for USB 2.0 file transfers.
This new clix definitely looks much cooler then the previous model but it remains to be see if iriver has any tricks let as it battles it out with SanDisk and Apple, among others.
