Samsung has a new smartphone up its sleeve to try and go toe-to-toe with Apple’s highly anticipated and hyped iPhone.
The new phone will play audio and video files and is called the Ultra Smart F700. It has many similar featues to the iPhone as well as an appearance which almost matches Apple’s device.
It does have a few additions though which the iPhone does not include in a pull-down keyboard and support of 3G HSDPA technology.
The announcement by Samsung was made at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The smartphone has a touch-screen as with a 2.78 inch display and a resolution of 440 by 240 pixels. In terms of an operating system it uses the Mac OS X.
In terms of size it is about the same size as the iPhone being 4 inches long and 2 inches wide. It is a little less than two-thirds of an inch thick as well.
“The Ultra Smart F700 is a good example of how the mobile phone will evolve in the future,” Choi Gee-sung stated on Thursday. He is the president of Samsung’s Telecommunications Network Business.
Other features of the Ultra Smart F700 include a 5-megapixel camera as well as microSD slot for added storage and Bluetooth technology. It does however lack WiFi support which the iPhone has.
There was no announcement in regards to the price of the upcoming Ultra Smart F700 phone and it also did not announce any type of release date or which carriers will sell the product.
There is sure to be more news coming out but it just seems like left and right companies are coming out with phones to try and shoot down Apple’s attempt to jump into the market with their iPhone.
