Seiko Epson Japan looks to be updating one of their portable picture viewers so that it can play music and movies in addition to letting you view digital photos. The Photo Fine Player P-3000 looks like it will be available, at least in the Land of the Rising Sun, in early June.
The Epson Photo Fine Player P-3000 has a gorgeous screen which will make use of four color filters to offer a better “color taste which is faithful” to the subject being displayed. It will have a 40GB hard drive and offer the ability to offload JPEG and RAW digital images from various media card formats.
As far as portable media player functions go, DigitalCameraInfo reports the P-3000 will support several video file formats including DivX and MPEG-4 as well as audio files like MP3 and AAC. It will also offer built-in PictBridge support so you can print photos directly to compatible USB-enabled printers.
Transfer rates from a CF card to the P-3000’s hard drive look respectable with a 1GB card offloading its content in under three seconds.
