Portable Video iPod Enlarger And DVD PlayerHammacher Schlemmer, a retailer of luxury goods, is now selling what they are calling a “Portable Video iPod Enlarger And DVD Player” for around $250. This device combines a portable DVD player with a built-in iPod dock and 7-inch widescreen.

The Portable Video iPod Enlarger And DVD Player’s 7″ screen is a 16:9 widescreen LCD that is 2-1/2 times larger than the iPod’s screen and offers viewers 480 x 234 pixel resolution. A video iPod can be placed in the back of the player behind a clear plastic cover. Full Story »

Slacker Personal Radio PlayerThere’s a new start up in town sporting a nice looking portable player and matching online music service. That start up is named Slacker and they’ve got some pretty big honchos helming them into a space dominated by the Apple iPod.

Slacker, unveiled last week, is being driven by Dennis Mudd, former CEO of Music Match, Jonathan Sasse, former president of iriver America, and Jim Cady, former CEO of Rio. Full Story »

Philips DCD778Philips have introduced the DCD778, an under-cabinet Entertainment System primarily for use in the kitchen.

With an 8.5” flip-down screen for the display, owners can use the in-build DVD Player to play back DVD movies, (S)VCD, MP3-CD, CD(RW) and Picture CD. There’s also a built in digital AM/FM tuner, as well as an ATSC/NTSC TV tuner for watching your favourite TV programmes. Sound is supplied via the built in stereo speakers. Full Story »

iLuv i182 Docking station. Video RecorderTalk about taking your favorite show on the go! iLuv has launched the iLuv i182, a recent upgrade to the old i180 model. New i182 owners will immediately notice a few key new features like the ability to record from any composite/S-video source (I’ve got one of those on my laptop too yay!). Also — with an attached adapter included with purchase –  users can record video directly to flash memory cards (MS, MSDuo, MMC, or SD). I guess the immediate question or concern for content providers is that this makes it a bit “too easy”, especially for non-techie types, to record their movies, shows, videos, etc and make them portable. 2560605_9_full.jpgWhat’s that? An FM tuner? Bah, who needs one? This dedicated 2002 GMC Denali owner decided it would be fun to modify his cassette deck to run his iPod. Now I personally don’t own any cars that still have a tape deck at the moment (I sold my 97 Hyundai Accent a year ago) but I do plan to call a few buddies today to let them know about this and see if they’d be willing to sacrifice their deck to audio science.
