Well when I first saw this over on ministry of tech my first thought was, “you’re kidding right?”. Apparently the idea behind it is not necessarily to “deter” a thief from snatching your iPod out of the car, but to disguise it so that they don’t know it’s an iPod. OK it was never exactly top secret but iRiver has now unveiled the X20 Personal Media Player (PMP) and will be released in Japan as early as March. This new device is causing a bit of buzz with it’s microSD compatibility but I have to say with the iRiver X20 only being available in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB their obvious secret plan to grab some iPod nano marketshare may be in jeopardy.
